Earle Seely’s musical journey starts with about 6 months of piano instruction at age 5. He later took another 6 months of organ instruction, but that is the extent of his formal training. While able to read music, he tells us that most of his playing consists of arrangements that he devised himself by ear.
His first exposure to the theatre organ was listening to the Cook recordings of Reginald Foort, played on a Webcore record player. That was the defining moment that set the hook. From then on, the sound of the theatre organ and the relaxed style of playing it supports, dominated his musical interests. He is organist and choir director of his church in Boonton, NJ, having held that post for 47 years. He is also one of the house organists playing the Wurlitzer at the Lafayette Theater in Suffern, NY.
At home, he relaxes playing his Rodgers Trio 321 Electronic Theatre organ which he has enhanced with a sound system including 2 digital reverberation units and an equalizer.
Music has always been a source of enjoyment. He believes that music should be enjoyed if you play or just listen. Being self taught, he hopes that those who listen will enjoy his music as much as he enjoys playing.
