”Classic Silent Film” – Rare Showing

 THE MARK OF
ZORRO

 Starring

DOUGLAS FAIRBANKS

Musical Score by Chris Elliott

Playing the

4/23 Wonder Morton Theatre Pipe Organ

This 1920 classic swashbuckling silent film stars Douglas Fairbanks as Zorro.  It is full of plot twists as Zorro evades pursuit while fighting all oppressors.  Fairbanks played the double role of the meek and socially uncomfortable Don Diego Vega and by contrast the dashing and mysteriously romantic Zorro. The film’s intrigue and comedy is compounded because his love interest Lolita is annoyed by Don Diego Vega but charmed by Zorro never knowing he is one and the same.  Remarkable in this day of special effects and stand-ins, is that Fairbanks performed all his own athletically demanding stunts. It has an appealing blend of adventure, romance, athleticism, comedy and swordplay, that continues to appeal to today’s audiences.  Slashing his well-know trademark Z, Zorro leads the way to “Justice for All”.

Chris Elliott will provide the musical score on the Wonder Morton Theatre Pipe Organ just the way it was meant to be experienced.  The Mark of Zorro will be shown on the Landmark Loew’s Jersey Theatre Big Screen.  It will be a unique evening, all brought to you on one of the most extraordinary musical instruments anywhere.  Don’t miss it.
