Peter Baratta

Experience the sound of the Theatre Pipe Organ

Peter Baratta. Jr has been a mainstay of the church and theatre organ scene in northern NJ for over 40 years. From 1980 through 1992, he served as house organist at the Park Performing Arts Center in Union City NJ, playing the 3/20 Möller for intermissions and as Organist for the 'Passion Play'.

As a pipe organ service technician, he has maintained a number of prestigious instruments in the tristate area, including Princeton University Chapel, The Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart, Newark, and the 4/58 Wurlitzer at Radio City Music Hall. He is currently serving the West Point Cadet Chapel as a volunteer in the organ shop department under Grant Chapman.

Notable organ teachers he has studied under include Frank Cimmino, Ashley Miller, and George Wesner. He is currently continuing studies with Craig Williams, the USMA Organist-Choirmaster, and serves on frequent
occasions as Guest Organist/Choir Director at Cadet Chapel for Sunday morning services.

Peter graduated from New Jersey City University with a B.A. in Media Arts/Music.
He received a Piano Tuning Diploma from the Museum of the American Piano, NYC, and holds the Church Music Certificate from Westminster Conservatory, Princeton NJ.

He is currently serving as Director of Music at Holy Trinity RC Church, Ft. Lee NJ, and is available for church services and theatre organ concerts on a freelance basis.

As to his most asked question: No, he is not directly related to John Baratta, although they know each other thru the music world.
